The Grasse region: flowers, perfumes and gardens
Grasse does not represent the entire Grasse region.
When we talk about Grasse, we naturally think of perfume.
But The Grasse region is much larger than just the town of Grasse..
Flower cultivation has profoundly influenced the entire hinterland of the French Riviera.
Rose, jasmine, violet, mimosa, orange blossom… each territory had its specialties.
Grasse has specialized in May rose and jasmine, while Tourrettes-sur-Loup is associated with violet, Mandelieu with mimosa and Vallauris with orange blossom.
Discovering the producers of the Grasse region
The Grasse region is not just a land of perfumes and flowers. It is also an agricultural area where local skills and products still exist.
Among the producers I had the opportunity to discover, Terroir-06, located in Bar-sur-Loup, offers citrus fruits and aromatic plants from organic farming and family know-how.
Hand-picked mandarins, orange blossom, mimosa, centifolia rose or Vallauris lemon: these products illustrate in their own way the richness of the local terroir.

The Garden of the International Perfume Museum
An excellent first step is to Mouans-Sartoux, at the Garden of the International Perfume Museum.
From Jasmins Studio :
11.5 km — approximately 18 minutes by car.

Then Grasse
After Mouans-Sartoux, continue towards Grasse to discover the history of perfumery and the houses that have made the city famous.
But don't stop at the city.
Discover the Grasse region
The landscapes, villages, flower crops and backcountry roads make for an excursion in themselves.
It is also an opportunity to understand why Grasse perfumery is intimately linked to the agricultural history of the entire region.
